National Defense Academy (NDA) – Pride of India

National Defense Academy or NDA is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. This academy gives training to the cadets of three services which are Army, Navy and Air Force. Here they are trained together before they go to training in their respective areas. It is located at Khadakswala near Pune. It is the first tri-service academy and one of the best among the world. To get admission here one has to clear the entrance examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The candidate who is applying for this exam should complete 12th board. If he wants to join Navy or Air Force then he should pass 12th with Physics and Math. The age of the candidate should be between 16 and half years to 19 years and of course unmarried.

All the candidates who join the academy have to undergo a training of three years where they need to do graduation in BSc, BA or BCS. Apart from academic training, the candidates will also be trained in outdoor skills like drill, PT and games. The main objective of this academy is to develop the physical as well mental strength of the candidates, give importance to character building and develop leadership skills thus leading to an overall development of the individual. NDA has very good infrastructure with excellent facilities which include spacious and well maintained classroom, well equipped lab, gymnasium, swimming pool, football ground, a cricket stadium etc. The academic year consists of two semesters. One semester is from Jan to May and another from July to December.

NDA entrance exam: make the nation pride

If you want to become a part of the Indian army then you need to take up the National Defense Academy (NDA) entrance exams. This examination is conducted twice a year by the UPSC, New Delhi. The UPSC is only liable for publishing guidelines for selection as well as conducting the NDA entrance exam across the nation. It arranges for NDA exam from beginning till admission.

The basic criteria for candidate who wants to take up the NDA examination is he or she:

  • Must have completed class XII or Equivalent examination which is carried on by the State Board

The pattern of this exam is different than the traditional exams. The written test for the NDA entrance exam consists of 2 papers for duration of 150 minutes each. The first one is Mathematics for which the total marks are 300 and second is of General Ability for which the total marks are 600. The test is multiple objective type as different options will be available out of which one is the correct answer for the given problem.
