Can you sketch a hyperola with equations of hyperbola & asymptotes without finding vertex, focus etc.

The intersection of this rectangle and the x-axis gives the vertices (4, 0) and (– 4, 0) of the hyperbola. Draw the lines joining the opposite vertices of the rectangle; that is, draw the diagonals of the rectangle and extend them. These lines are the asymptotes of the hyperbola. Since the hyperbola contains its vertices and approaches its asymptotes, a sketch of the hyperbola now can be quickly drawn. If more accuracy is desired, a few points in the first quadrant can be plotted. Then the symmetry of the hyperbola can be used to extend the graph to the other quadrants.
A similar development can be given if the foci of the hyperbola are (0, c) and (0, –c) on the y-axis. Then the roles of a and b would be interchanged, just as with the ellipse.
